Mary Nell Flournoy, 81, Leesburg, Florida, went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2021 at U F Health The Villages Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mary Nell was born on December 24, 1939 in Alexander City, Alabama to her parents, A.C. Spates and Irene (Jones) Spates.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her loving family. She and her husband, Wesley moved to Leesburg, Florida from Anniston, Alabama. Mary Nell was of the Christian faith and a member of New Beginning Christian Fellowship in Ocala, Florida. Her hobbies included, arts and crafts, including painting, ceramics, sewing and crocheting beautiful blankets for her children and grandchildren. Mary Nell loved to cook for her family and loved to travel. She enjoyed going to Las Vegas and playing the slot machines and black jack. She loved being with her family and taking care of them.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years: Wesley Gilbert Flournoy, Sr. of Leesburg, FL; a son: Daryl W. Flournoy and his wife Danielle of Leesburg, FL; a daughter: Dianne Flournoy of Leesburg, FL; two loving grandsons: Wesley Ryker Flournoy and Coen Wayne Flournoy.
Mary Nell was preceded in death by her parents, a beloved son, Wesley Gilbert Flournoy, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2021 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at Page-Theus Funeral Home, Leesburg Chapel.
The family has requested donations to be made to the National Alzheimer’s Foundation at info@alzfdn.org in Mary Nell’s loving memory.
