A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly attacking his sister with a hobby horse on a stick.
The woman told Lake County sheriff’s deputies she came home to her RV at Angelina Lakeside Inn on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Leesburg when she discovered that her RV had been burglarized. She called out to her brother, 34-year-old Dustin Luther Croom, who “went crazy,” becoming defensive and violent, according to an arrest report.
Croom grabbed a horse plushy on a stick and hit himself with it, breaking the stick. He then walked toward his sister “in a violent attacking manner.” He then threw the stick at his sister and punched her in the face and forehead. She was able to pick up a fishing knife that was on the ground. She unsheathed the knife.
“Come any closer and I will kill you,” she shouted.
Croom stopped and his sister was able to call 911.
Deputies found Croom in his RV and took him into custody on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $1,000 bond.
