A construction worker was arrested after allegedly leaving his girlfriend with a bloody nose.
Leesburg police were called at about 8 p.m. Sunday to an apartment in the 1000 block of Line Street where they found the woman with blood coming from her nose and on her shirt. She said her boyfriend, 35-year-old Porfirio Manuel Viruet of Lake Panasoffkee, struck her when she asked about her possessions she believed to be in a suitcase he had packed for a trip to Tampa, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He allegedly responded to her question by punching her in the nose.
Officers entered the apartment and found Vireut on the couch. He was arrested on a charge of battery, enhanced to a felony due to a previous battery conviction. Vireut was booked on $10,000 bond at the Lake County Jail.
