A Lake County sheriff’s sergeant is being lauded for saving a jail inmate’s life.
Sheriff Peyton Grinnell recently presented Sgt. David Woelk with the Sheriff’s Life Saving Medal. Woelk received the award for responding to a medical emergency in the Lake County Jail on Aug. 22, 2019 and located an inmate lying on the floor in distress. He immediately summoned EMS and relocated the inmate to the center of the room to perform CPR. He administered chest compressions until EMS arrived and took over.
“Sgt. Woelk’s immediate response may have very well saved the individual’s life,” a post on the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page reads.
