A Leesburg man and his gal pal were jailed recently after they were found asleep inside a vehicle that had been reported stolen.
A Lake County sheriff’s deputy was called to a Circle K on County Road 44 in the unincorporated section of Leesburg and when he arrived, he made contact with 34-year-old Daniel Cruz Britt and 24-year-old Kalley Breanne Foreman, of New Albany, Miss. The deputy noted that the vehicle was running with its turn signal engaged and when he checked the Mississippi license plate, it came back stolen.
Foreman, who was the driver, was found to be in possession of Oxycodone and Ecstasy, as well as a loaded firearm. She also had an active warrant out of Mississippi, a sheriff’s office report states.
While checking the passenger side of the vehicle where Britt was sitting, deputies found several items including two iPads, a few computer bags, computer chargers and other computer items. Britt also had multiple warrants out of Mississippi, the report says.
While Britt and Foreman were being booked at the Lake County Jail, a detective from Mississippi contacted the sheriff’s office about suspected burglary activity involving Foreman’s vehicle.
Foreman was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance (Ecstasy) without a prescription, possession of a controlled substance (Oxycodone) without a prescription and carrying a weapon openly. She was being held on $5,000 bond and is due in court Sept. 14 at 8:30 a.m.
Britt, who lives at 273 Kelou Ct. in Leesburg, was charged with being a fugitive from justice from Mississippi for commercial burglary. He was being held on no bond and is due in court Friday, Aug. 21 at 8:30 a.m.
