Kohl’s shoplifting suspect apprehended after fleeing store parking lot in Cadillac

A shoplifting suspect was apprehended after fleeing the Kohl’s parking lot in a Cadillac.

The store’s loss prevention officer reported that three young men entered the store shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday and began loading merchandise into a backpack, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. They left the store without paying for the merchandise and got into a black Cadillac. Police stopped the vehicle after it left the parking lot.

A 16-year-old from Leesburg admitted that his companions had put the stolen merchandise into his backpack. A check revealed the teen had been arrested on a charge of petit theft in 2016 by Leesburg police, but was not convicted.

He was taken into custody and turned over to the Department of Children and Families.
