Vera Keenan, born December 21, 1923, in Honesdale, Pennsylvania died peacefully at 3:17 am on March 17, 2024.

Sailing was a big part of her life. Vera was instrumental in the formation of both the Lake Fenton, Michigan and Lake Eustis, Florida yacht clubs. She raced with her husband Frank on their sailboat, and they passed along their passion for the sport to their four kids. Vera volunteered countless hours at sailing events, church activities and as an election worker. She taught herself and others how to play bridge and many other card games where she demonstrated her fun competitiveness. Her biggest accomplishment was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of a close knit and loving family.

Vera was the epitome of a family matriarch in the most positive sense. Her motto was “One day at a time and do your best”. Vera mastered the computer at 74. She played fantasy football until 93. Vera was an avid reader her entire life, even listening to audio books at the end. She was champion of the family Kick Butt Croquet Tournament. Vera was so proud that she hit the 100-year milestone and even insisted on walking into her celebration.

Vera was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Frank Keenan. She is survived by her children: Candi Robb, Michael (Carol) Keenan, Tom (Sharon) Keenan and Trish (Bob) End. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. For the last six years of her life, she was compassionately cared for at Blue Haven Assisted Living by Leytonya Hargrove, Amber Watkins, Asia Moore and Charles Moore.

Contributions can be made to Blue Haven Assisted Living, 35525 County Road 473, Leesburg, FL 34788. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Eustis on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
