Beacon College in Leesburg has announced the appointment of Kevin Reilly as its incoming vice president of academic affairs.

Reilly will spearhead the college’s academic vision starting June 17. His appointment by the board of trustees comes after a nationwide search following the very successful tenure of Beacon’s long-standing Provost, Shelly Chandler.

As vice president of academic affairs, Reilly will lead all academic functions, including faculty oversight, curriculum development, and accreditation initiatives. His proven track record of transformative leadership and dedication to student success aligns perfectly with Beacon’s mission to empower students with diverse learning styles.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Reilly to our leadership team. His impressive background and commitment to neurodiversity and student-centered education make him the ideal candidate to elevate our academic programs and drive excellence across the institution,” said George J. Hagerty, President of Beacon College.

Prior to joining Beacon College, Reilly served as the vice president for academic affairs at Ferrum College in Virginia, where he distinguished himself through the creation of innovative graduate and undergraduate programs, the establishment of a highly regarded Success Coach program, and leadership in international education initiatives.

Reilly’s academic journey began as a faculty member in the psychology program at Ferrum College, where he earned tenure and ascended to the rank of full professor. His transition into administrative roles, including dean for the School of Social Sciences and Professional Studies and assistant vice president for academic affairs, further solidified his commitment to academic excellence and institutional advancement.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology and a master of arts degree from Bridgewater State University, as well as a doctorate from Lehigh University.
