Ned V. Giffey, (91) of Napoleon, Ohio and Tavares, Florida passed away on March 13, 2024 at the Advent Health Waterman Hospital, Tavares, FL

Ned was born July 14, 1932 on the family farm near Holgate, Ohio to the late Arthur & Emma (Youngman) Giffey. He graduated from Holgate High School in 1950 and enrolled at Defiance College. He left college to serve in the US Army during the Korean War, Sept 1953 – Sept 1955.

On Nov 20, 1954, Ned married Norma Alexander (Guy & Susie Alexander) at St Peters Lutheran Church in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio.

After graduating from Defiance College in 1956 he worked for 45 years with Property & Casualty insurance companies in N/W Ohio in their claims departments. He retired as the Vice President of Claims at the German Mutual Insurance Co in 2001. He was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Ohio and Faith Lutheran Church in Eustis, Florida.

Ned & Norma enjoyed traveling, including to all 50 states, across Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe as well as being snowbirds in Tavares, Florida making many life long friendships along the way.

Ned is survived by his wife, of 69 years Norma, children Neil Giffey and Nancy (Dennis) Tonjes, grandchildren Eric (Audrey) Giffey, Dale (Jessica) Giffey, Glen Giffey, Lindsay (Gabe) Ornelas, Emily Gasche, step grandson Cabe (Kaleena) Schlosser and great grandson Luke Giffey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Corinne March, Carmen Wiechers, infant Carrol Jean Giffey, and brother Gene Giffey.

A Florida Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, March 20th from 11am – 1pm at Fox Run in Tavares, Florida

An Ohio memorial service and burial will be scheduled at a later date.
