Robert (Bob) Nicholson, Jr., age 61, passed away in Leesburg, Florida after a brief illness due to throat cancer.

Bob had recently moved to Florida to be near his father Robert Nicholson, Sr. and his brother James. However, he was definitely a Long Islander all his life. He graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY in 1984, with a degree in chemical engineering. After college, he lived in Bayshore and Islip, NY and worked for several engineering firms on Long Island, obtaining his Professional Engineering License from the State of New York in 1995. After obtaining his PE license, he started his own company and then continued as a consultant.

Bob loved putting his engineering skills to good use. He volunteered his time and scientific expertise in a lawsuit exposing a history of soil and groundwater contamination from coal tar residue left by an old manufactured gas plant in Bayshore.
