A deputy spotted the driver of a black Ford passenger car, later identified as 50-year-old Robin Clark King, in the parking lot of Circle K located at 31734 State Road 44 around 2 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

A check of the license plate revealed the registered owner’s license to be invalid. Part of the driver’s history included a suspension effective in Aug. 2023 and a guilty disposition date of Jan. 2004 for driving while license cancelled, revoked or suspended, the report said.

The deputy entered the gas station, walking past the driver’s side door of the vehicle and seeing the registered owner, King, in the driver’s seat. While talking to the clerk at the inside counter, he watched King exit the parking lot driving the vehicle, the report said.

The deputy then got back into his patrol vehicle and followed King onto Scrub Oak Road where he initiated a traffic stop near the intersection with Holly Branch Road. However, King accelerated and fled the traffic stop, the report said.

A short time later, the deputy spotted the vehicle parked at a nearby residence. He made announcements to an RV travel trailer on the property, and King came out to be placed under arrest, the report said.

An inventory of the vehicle was taken before it was towed. During this search, a backpack was found on the driver’s seat. Its contents included a wallet with King’s license, a clear glass pipe with burnt residue that tested positive for methamphetamine, a cut blue straw with white residue and a pack of cigarettes housing a clear plastic bag with blue powdery substance, the report said.

King later advised that she saw the blue flashing lights behind her as the deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop. She fled because she feared getting a ticket for the status of her license. She then pulled into her driveway and hid inside the camper until giving up. She also stated that law enforcement would find a “bubbler” inside her purse which was used to smoke methamphetamine, and the blue substance was crushed Percocet, the report said.

The New Jersey native was charged with driving while license suspended/revoked (second offense), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Percocet and fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer. She was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $7,000.
