David Victor Dakauskas, 83, of Leesburg, Florida, formerly of Grand Rapids and Greenville MI passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024.

He was born on September 22, 1940, to the late Dorothy and Victor Dakauskas. He is preceded in death by his sister Leigh Gates.

He is survived by his significant other Julie Slentz; his four children : Vicki (Rolando) Ramirez, Craig(Jodi) Dakauskas, Lisa(Dustin) Karl, Stephanie (Chris) VanderLaan; his nine grandchildren, Kristin (Brett) Banford, Logan Ramirez, Samantha Dakauskas, Craig Dakauskas II, Tyler Kuna, Maddox VanderLaan, Anneliese VanderLaan, Ashton VanderLaan, and Sawyer VanderLaan: three great grandchildren, Conlen Banford, Mya Banford and Elise Banford; his sister Cathryn (Paul)Bieber, brother-n-law Don Gates,4 nieces and nephews and 1 great nephew. Julie’s sons, Michael (Shari) Slentz, Rod ( Sandy) Slentz , Brian (Heather) Slentz, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Dave served in the United States Navy in Special Communications from 1958 to 1962. He was employed with Nabisco for 30 years. Dave enjoyed his retirement. He was an avid Michigan fan. He enjoyed playing golf, cooking at the VFW Hall, playing softball, pickleball, and taking trips to the local casino.

Dave loved his family and spending time with them. He was thrilled to be a “Grandpa and “Papa”. He loved to see his grandchildren and spend time with them. He loved playing Euchre with them.

Dave’s celebration of life will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 am in Leesburg ,Florida at Pennbrooke Fairways in the activity center with a luncheon following.
