Barrie Joseph Robinson of Leesburg, FL, loving father, grandfather, and friend passed away at the age of 89. on January 21, 2024. Barrie was born on September 3, 1934 to his loving parents; Albert and Alice (nee O’Leary) Robinson. Barrie grew up in Naugatuck, CT and graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1952. He later attended Cheshire Academy and Connecticut School of Electronics.

Barrie was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, was raised Catholic and became an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Leesburg, FL. He enjoyed a long career as an Electronic Engineer for the US Government, which led him to reside in several different places in the United States and abroad, including Germany and West Africa.

In addition to his love of travel Barrie was an active member in his community. He belonged to many organizations including the Izaak Walton League of America, the Lion’s Club, Veterans Clubs, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Club and he was a lifetime member of The American Legion. In his spare time, Barrie enjoyed coin collecting, country line dancing, Volksmarching, and traveling. He always said he had “more adventures than Superman.”

Barrie’s family was most important to him. His motto was “family first.” He will be missed dearly by all who knew him and remembered fondly for being outgoing, friendly, and for his playful sense of humor. Barrie never met a stranger, only friends.

Barrie is survived by his children: Barrie Robinson (Susan), Tracey Salas (Charlie), Amy Woodruff (Charles), as well as grandchildren: Michelle, Brittany, Barrie, and Charlie, and great-grandchildren; Alexis, Barrie, and Brooks.

Barrie is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Albert Robinson and Patricia Natowich.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Barrie on Saturday, January 27th at 2:00 pm at Pennbrooke Fairways Activity Center. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or the American Legion.
