Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a physical altercation in progress at an undisclosed Eustis residence around 9:28 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Eustis Police Department. While on the way to the scene, deputies were told that 21-year-old Tynya Michelle Garner left in a black Nissan Sentra.

Once deputies arrived, they spoke with the male victim. He advised that Garner was at his house and became upset with him due to finding out that he was seeing another woman. She became irate, grabbing and throwing a pair of scissors from inside of her car toward him. The scissors hit the victim’s head and bounced off onto the ground, the report said.

The victim then told Garner to get in her car and leave the residence. Garner got in her vehicle, but instead of leaving, she drove it toward the victim to hit him with it. He jumped behind a trashcan in fear for his life, and she took off after her unsuccessful attempt, the report said.

Deputies could see a mark on the victim’s forehead that would be consistent with the scissors making contact. They also asked to see the scissors, and he handed over a black and white pair of scissors, the report said.

Additionally, deputies noticed a mirror and a mirror cover that belonged to a car. The victim advised they were pieces off Garner’s vehicle from trying to hit him. She struck the tent in front of the house with her side mirror which caused it to break, the report said.

Meanwhile, officers with Eustis PD found the vehicle and performed a felony traffic stop. Garner was thus taken into custody without incident, the report said.

Garner initially refused to speak with law enforcement, but she later spontaneously uttered that she did grab the scissors out of her vehicle. She denied throwing them and advised that the victim broke her side mirror by hitting it. However, officers observed that the damaged and missing pieces on Garner’s vehicle matched the pieces at the incident scene, the report said.

Garner was subsequently charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. These charges were domestic due to Garner and the victim having children together. She was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $4,000.
