Motorcyclist who fell off bike hit by 8 vehicles on U.S. Hwy. 27

A motorcyclist who fell off his bike was hit by eight vehicles Sunday evening on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Lake County.

The 26-year-old Kissimmee man was riding a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle at 6:22 p.m. southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27 approaching Frank Jarrell Road south of Clermont when he lost control of the motorcycle and fell from it, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist landed in the center southbound lane of the busy highway. Initially, he was struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by a 35-year Sarasota woman who was also southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27. She did not see his body in the roadway. Seven more vehicles, also southbound, hit the motorcyclist as well.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
