A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a driver, later identified as 39-year-old Beon Ozar Strong, in the Turtle Oaks Apartments complex at 2311 Griffin Road around 12:17 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon activating his emergency blue lights, the deputy watched Strong exit the front passenger seat of the vehicle. He looked back at the deputy and began running on foot northbound through the complex. The deputy then gave chase on foot and verbally commanded him to stop, the report said.

After a short on-foot pursuit, the deputy was able to catch up to Strong and deployed two taser probes which struck his left side. He fell to the ground where he was safely placed in handcuffs. Strong then provided his name and admitted he had warrants for his arrest, the report said.

A check confirmed that Strong had two active Sumter County writs totaling $3,000, the report said.

Additionally, Strong was arrested with a bookbag full of drugs in November 2017 and after making a snack run for his pregnant girlfriend in May 2023.

Strong was subsequently arrested for resisting arrest without violence. He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000.
