Police received a call from the mother of 36-year-old Mashad McKenzie regarding him being on the property of a victim who had a restraining order against him around 10:18 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly thereafter, a deputy arrived on scene and spoke with a male witness who lived at the incident location. He saw McKenzie stalking around the property “as if he was casing the house.” McKenzie began to antagonize him, trying to get him into a physical altercation, the report said.

The witness explained that McKenzie stood in the street in front of the home during the verbal altercation. He recorded the entire incident on his cell phone, which he showed to the deputy, and it confirmed his statement, the report said.

The deputy then called the victim over the phone. She advised that she was out of town and unable to meet with deputies, the report said.

That same day at 3:22 p.m., law enforcement received another call informing them that McKenzie returned to the property and was damaging the residence. The deputy came back and again spoke with the witness, the report said.

The witness advised he was taking a nap when he was woken up by loud banging on the side of the trailer. He looked through the window and saw McKenzie standing in the driveway with a large pole and bike chain. This caused multiple holes and dents in the aluminum siding of the trailer which amounted to about $800 worth of damage, the report said.

The deputy once again called the victim, who was still out of town and not able to physically respond, but she gave verbal consent for prosecution on all charges, the report said.

While still on scene, the deputy spotted McKenzie walking down the roadway to the residence, at which time he was secured and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle, the report said.

McKenzie was subsequently charged with two counts of violation of injunction (domestic), armed trespass and criminal mischief. He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
