Deputies responded to an undisclosed Leesburg residence regarding a physical altercation at around 3:54 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The female victim stated that while she and 53-year-old Jay Allen Pokorny sat in their living room watching TV and drinking alcohol, he became irate and angry. He accused her of cheating on him and walking out on him about a month ago. She denied his allegation, which caused him to get angrier, and the verbal altercation turned physical, the report said.

The victim advised that Pokorny grabbed her by the neck, causing some minor redness, with both of his hands to choke her. She was able to pull herself back, preventing him from getting a “full grasp” on her neck so she was still able to breathe. She then walked out of the house, the report said.

Pokorny, however, admitted that he and the victim got into a verbal altercation but stated “that was it,” the report said. After the verbal altercation, he went to sleep. He denied touching or striking the victim. He also stated, “I never laid my hands on her.”

The Ohio native was ultimately arrested on charge of simple battery (domestic). He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000.
