Hugh Morris Honeycutt, age 75, of Mt. Dora, FL., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Hugh was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Hugh was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on September 24, 1947, to the late Mae Francis Butler (Grantham) and Theadie Morris Honeycutt. Hugh grew up in Jacksonville and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Florida. He was an entrepreneur at heart and owned several businesses during his lifetime. Most recently, he and his wife Kathy owned and operated a cooking oil recycling business for 9 years together.

Hugh enlisted into the United States Army at the age of 18 and served 3 years, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, Hugh was preceded in death by his stepfather Charles P. Butler; brother Timothy Honeycutt; daughter Angela Candace Honeycutt, and grandson Austin Lee Anderson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, Kathryn Honeycutt; daughter Skyla Anderson and husband Steve of Knoxville, TN; daughter Susan Williams and husband Tony of Lakeland, FL; sister Pamela Dreme Stubbs and husband Phil of Jacksonville, FL; and brother Steven Ray Honeycutt of Lakeland, FL; two stepdaughters, Chrissy King and husband Joe of Cumming, GA; and Jennifer Robinson and husband Gary of Mt. Dora, FL; 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held in Hugh’s honor on Thursday, September 7 at Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mt. Dora, Florida. A private viewing for family only will begin at 1:00 pm, visitation for family and friends will begin at 2:00 pm, and the funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse (samaritanspurse.org), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org), or Miracle Hill Ministries (miraclehill.org).
