A Leesburg man sought for trespassing was arrested for doing just that with drugs in his pockets at a Circle K.

Police responded around 6:15 a.m. Sunday to a trespass complaint at Circle K, located at 2211 Citrus Blvd.,  according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Jaylin Jamar Ricks, was still on scene at the time of the deputy’s arrival. The store clerk wanted him removed from the property. However, when the deputy asked Ricks for identification, he declined and immediately left the store. The clerk advised they knew his first name but not his last, the report said.

Shortly after, a sergeant with the Fruitland Park Police Department advised the subject’s last name was possibly “Ricks.” A search of his full name revealed that Ricks had an active Lake County warrant for trespass to a structure or conveyance. He was also positively identified as the same man from the Circle K via the search results, the report said.

Multiple units canvassed the area in an attempt to relocate Ricks, the report said. He was then found and detained at North 14th Street and Eureka Avenue. A search of his person revealed a piece of burnt foil in his left pocket and a blue straw with residue in his right pocket. Once the foil was unwrapped, it contained a white crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

The Connecticut native was subsequently charged with failure to appear trespass to structure or conveyance, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $3,000.
