A Leesburg man was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest after taking a fighting stance while officers tried to remove him from a woman’s property.

Police responded to a trespassing call on Beverly Point Road in Leesburg at about 9:18 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The female victim advised law enforcement that 41-year-old Wayne Curtis Reese had been previously trespassed from her property and had returned. Officers observed standing in the yard of the residence, clearly within the property lines. One of the officers confirmed that Reese had been trespassed June 19 before they tried to place him under arrest, the report said.

Reese then became argumentative and refused to comply with verbal commands to place his hands behind his back. He took an aggressive fighting stance and appeared to be preparing to fight one of the officers. He was given several more verbal commands to put his hands behind his back and was advised that he was under arrest for trespassing after a warning, according to the report.

Again, Reese refused to comply with orders and became verbally resistant. Despite his refusals, one of the officers approached Reese from the rear and physically took control of him to secure him in handcuffs, the report said.

Reese was subsequently charged with trespass after a warning and resisting (obstructing without violence). He was transported to the Lake County Jail with bond set at $2,000.
