Motorcyclist passing in no passing zone killed in crash in Lake County

A motorcyclist passing in a no passing zone was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon in Lake County.

The 51-year-old Enterprise man was riding a 2019 Ducati Panigale motorcycle at 1:32 p.m. southbound on County Road 44A approaching Bill Collins Road in Eustis when he attempted to pass a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 19-year-old male from Umatilla, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The teen was simultaneously making a left turn to travel eastbound on Bill Collins Road, when the motorcycle collided with his truck.

The motorcyclist was transported to AdventHealth Waterman Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The teen driving the truck was not injured and remained at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
