Lake County officials are warning residents about scam letters showing up in mailboxes.

The letter titled “Community Alert” promises that a “$500 Million Dollar Funding Program Has been Implemented in Lake County.” Recipients of the letter are encouraged to call and secure up to $75,000 in financing for replacement of old windows and doors.

“This is not a County approved program and is not affiliated with the County in any way. Stay alert! You are always welcome to call our office to verify information,” Lake County officials have warned in a bulletin intended for residents.
