Ned E. Lichty of Mount Dora, Florida passed away on Friday April 28, 2023. He was 93 years old. He was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania. Ned proudly served his country in the US Army for 27 ½ years during the Korean War and in Vietnam. He retired in 1976 with the rank of Sergeant Major. He moved to Boynton Beach and went to work for the City of Palm Beach while simultaneously working at Home Depot. Ned was a hard worker, almost always working two jobs, providing for his family. He enjoyed yard work. Ned could also fix anything. He moved to Mount Dora in 1998 from Boynton Beach and continued to work for Home Depot locally.
He was married to Winifred for 33 years before she passed away in 2009. Prior to that, he was married to Sylvia. She passed in 2017. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Lichty and siblings, Lamar, Jack, Betty, Joseph, Robert and Nancy. Ned is remembered and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Anne Lichty of Mount Dora; sons, John Lichty of Jamestown, Pennsylvania, Robert Lichty (Denise) of Mesa, Arizona, Ned Lichty, Jr. (Frank) of Kent, Washington, and Joe Lichty (Melissa) of Delaware, Ohio; his local granddaughter, Juliana Ross (Casey) of Leesburg and their children, Ember and Everly; several other grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to gather for viewing on Tuesday, May 2 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM with a funeral ceremony starting at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis.
