David Kilbury is the newly assigned Public Safety Director with Lake County.

Kilbury began his extensive career in March of 1985 as a firefighter/EMT with South Trail Fire District in Fort Myers. Two years later in October of 1987, he joined the City of Cape Coral Fire Department where he served for 21 years. In 2008, due to the economic collapse, Kilbury accepted an early retirement from his position as Battalion Chief/Paramedic. Kilbury moved to Central Florida in 2009 to become the Assistant Fire Chief of Administration with the City of Clermont Fire Department. In 2013, he was able to pursue his desire for learning and personal growth by becoming the appointed fire chief with the City of Kissimmee Fire Department. Kilbury’s own interest in developing his personal skills lead him to Orange County Fire Rescue in 2017 to serve as Fire Marshal before joining Lake County in his position as Public Safety Director.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and a master’s degree in Human Resources from Barry University (Miami Shores). Kilbury is a graduate of both the National Fire Academy’s prestigious Executive Fire Officer Program and Florida State University’s Certified Public Manager (CPM) program.

Kilbury is married to his wife, Tina, for 30 years. Their two children, Carley and Connor, are both currently attending different Florida Universities.
