Jean Ellen Suggs, 81, of Tavares, FL, passed away on March 16, 2023. She was born on February 9, 1942, in Elba, AL, to her parents: Jesse and Katie (Willis) Smith. Jean moved with her family to Apopka, FL in the 1950’s. She was the Secretary, Treasurer and Controller of Hi-Acres Corporation citrus business for almost 60 years.
She is survived by her children: Rebecca (Jay) Sweeney, Daniel Suggs and Jeff (Dana) Suggs; sisters: Brunice Smith and Carolyn Holerger; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jesse Willard Smith and Katie J. Willis; brothers: James Smith, Lamar Smith and grandchild: Corey Suggs.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 11:00AM -12:00PM with a service beginning at 12:00PM at Steverson Hamlin and Hilbish Chapel in Tavares, FL. Interment will follow the service at Astatula Cemetery in Astatula, FL.
