Lake County nursery owner makes grim discovery of double fatal crash

A Lake County nursery owner made the grim discovery Saturday morning of a double fatal crash which apparently occurred the previous night.

The discovery was made at Live Oaks Ranch Nursery at Umatilla.

The blue Chevy Malibu had been traveling north on County Road 439, when the 24-year-old female driver from Paisely lost control of the vehicle and it traveled onto the east shoulder, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. While traveling north on the shoulder, the vehicle collided with a drainage ditch and several trees, becoming airborne and overturning, before coming to final rest within the wooded area on the east shoulder of the roadway.

During the collision, the female driver was ejected.

The 45-year-old male passenger remained entrapped inside the vehicle.

Both the driver and passenger died at the scene of the crash.

It is believed the crash occurred overnight and was discovered by the property owner this morning,” the FHP said in the report.
