A vandal was arrested after throwing a chair through a window at a Main Street business in Leesburg.

Officers responded on New Year’s Eve to the 700 block of Main Street after a 911 caller reported that a metal chair had been used to shatter a window at his business, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Police officers made contact with the business owner who told them he was inside the store with an employee when they heard the front window break. He and the employee ran outside and saw 26-year-old Tanner Austin Robertson walking away. After calling 911, the business owner and employee went outside to confront Robertson.

The officers were able to detain Robertson who told them “he was tired of the church trying to control his life and wanted to get back at them,” according to the arrest report.

Damage to the window was estimated at $2,500. Surveillance footage showed Robertson throwing the chair through the window.

Robertson was charged with felony criminal mischief. After processing at the Leesburg Police Station, Robertson was booked at the Lake County Jail. He was released after posting $2,000 bond.
