Jeanette Merritt

Jeanette Merritt (94) was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday July 14, 2022.

Jeanette was born on February 25, 1928 in Lacoochee, FL to Joseph and Marvin Helen Abraham. She was a 60 year resident of Leesburg.

Jeanette retired as an insurance agent in 1983. Always energetic and one to stay busy, she began a local cleaning service. She cleaned a number of local businesses, churches and homes for over 30 years. Known for her excellent cooking, she also did catering. She worked full time until she was 86 years old. Customers became her friends and work became a social outlet for her. When going to customers’ homes to clean, very often she would bake their favorite cake or pie. She simply loved to stay busy. Her home was always open and anyone was welcome for a meal. Through the years, many friends and neighborhood children enjoyed her cooking and knew her home was open to them without judgement. She was loved and respected and a friend to everyone. Jeanette was always willing to lend a helping hand. Most important in her life was Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, living a life of love and service to others.

She is predeceased in death by her parents, her son Raleigh Joe Goddard, grandson Casey Abram Goddard, and great grandson Arean Joyner.

Jeanette is survived by her children Elvis (Tammy) Goddard of Tampa, FL, Tina Goddard of Leesburg, Michael (MaryAnne) Merritt of Belleview, FL, daughter in law Rita Goddard Leesburg. Grandchildren Corey Goddard Leesburg, Clay (Tawny) Goddard Roundrock, TX, Clif (Robyn) Goddard of Liberty Hill, TX, Clete (Jessica) Goddard Tampa, FL, Chris (Autumn) Merritt of Ocala, FL and nine great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mayfield Retirement Center for their love, support and wonderful care of their mother.

Visitation will be held on Friday July 22, 2022 from 5-7pm at the Beyers Funeral Chapel with Funeral Services on Saturday July 23, 2022 at 11 AM.
