A Wildwood woman was arrested after she allegedly walked out of the Bealls Outlet store in Leesburg without paying for $20 worth of underwear.

Cormoni Danay Solomon, 21, of 1406 CR 22, also reportedly had MDMA – also known as Ecstasy or Molly – in her possession when she was stopped while leaving the store, located at 931 N. 14th St. She was charged with retail petit theft of less than $750 and possession of a controlled substance.

At around 2:30 p.m. Friday, a security employee at the store told a Leesburg police officer that a black female, wearing a black hoodie and shorts, walked out of the store without paying for two boxes of Aeropostale underwear. He said he saw the woman – later identified as Solomon — on closed-circuit TV select the two items and move to another display. The employee said Solomon concealed one box in her hoodie and held the other as she left the store, passing all points of sale without trying to pay, according to the police report.

The store employee said he tried to stop Solomon and ask for the merchandise back, but she refused. He said he followed Solomon out of the store, and Solomon told him she would punch him if he continued to follow her. The employee said the items cost a total of $19.98, the report said.

Deputies found Solomon walking behind the plaza. They searched her and found the two boxes of underwear. Deputies also found a piece of a cigar bag inside an ID holder that was inside Solomon’s purse. The cigar bag contained a white powdery substance that tested positive for MDMA and weighed 6 grams, according to the report.

Solomon was taken to the Leesburg Police Department for processing, and then to the Lake County Jail, where she was still being held Monday on $2,500 bond. She’s due to appear in Lake County Court at 8:30 a.m. May 2.
