Paul McKinley Kitchen, at 82 years of age passed peacefully on the morning of March 28th, 2022 in his home in Leesburg, FL, surrounded by his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia Furtsch Kitchen in 2005 and he is survived by his sons Alan and Steven Kitchen, Steven’s wife Nan and his grandchildren and step grandchildren Isabella, Jeb, Mia and Lauryn.
Paul lived in Virginia Beach, VA, it was here that he and Cynthia raised their 2 sons Steven and Alan. He worked over 25 years in the Hampton Roads area as a civil servant attached to the Navy as an electronics engineer for NAVSEADET Norfolk (Naval Sea Detachment). When Paul was offered early retirement in the late 90s he took it and he and Cynthia eventually set their sights on retirement in Leesburg Florida in a new community called Royal Highlands.
Paul was a Charter Member of the Monarch Golf Club. Paul was a talented golfer and a fierce competitor. He was club champion from 2002-2005 and 2008. He also enjoyed giving back to the community by tutoring young children, teaching them how to read and arithmetic. He enjoyed playing pool at the billiards room at the Rec Center, bridge with friends, as well as many other card and trivia board games. He loved to travel and take cruises and saw much of the US as well as Alaska and Europe.
A private memorial service will be held at the Crown and Shield restaurant in Royal Highlands at 3:30pm on April 12th.
