A Miami resident was arrested by Leesburg police early Saturday morning after allegedly burglarizing a business.

Officers were dispatched shortly before 4 a.m. to Prime Electric on Main Street. An employee who was in the building heard someone trying to break into the building from a second story covered porch area.

Several officers responded to the business and set up a perimeter around the building.

The officers heard items being moved around on the second floor and saw items being thrown off the porch. Several officers were let into the building by the employee and were shown the way to the second floor. The officers opened the door to the porch and apprehended 56-year-old Randolph Simon. Simon had thrown several spools of wire, a fire extinguisher, two chairs and a broom off of the porch.

Simon was charged with theft of the fire extinguisher, petit theft and burglary. He was booked at the Lake County Jail with bond set at $9,000.
