A woman was arrested after drinking with her stepmother at the Shamrock Lounge in Leesburg.

Karleigh McCollum, 24, of Ocala, was arrested early Monday morning after a Lake County sheriff’s deputy was flagged down at a Wawa station in Leesburg by a citizen reporting an impaired driver.

The deputy noted in his arrest report that McCollum smelled of alcohol along with her eyes being watery, glassy and red.

A passenger in the car identified herself as McCollum’s stepmother. She told the deputy that they had been drinking at the Shamrock Lounge. She told the deputy that McCollum only had two drinks and that her driving was “not erratic and that she appeared to be driving well.”

McCollum agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises which clearly showed her to be impaired, the arrest report said. After she was placed under arrest, she took the breathalyzer test with results showing her blood alcohol level to be .135 and .127 blood alcohol content.

McCollum was booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $1,000.
