A 19-year-old who was chasing her former boyfriend caused a multi-vehicle crash in Leesburg.

The accident occurred in the wee hours Saturday morning at the intersection of East Main Street and Dixie Avenue. Witnesses told Leesburg police that the driver of a Kia was chasing a Hyundai car at a high rate of speed. The Kia then rammed the rear of the other car which was able to turn onto Dixie Avenue. The Kia could not make the turn and crashed into a pickup truck which was forced into a Chevrolet sedan.

Princess Reed of Leesburg was identified as the driver of the Kia and she told police that the vehicle’s wheels “froze up”causing the accident.

The passenger in the Hyundai car explained that he had been romantically involved with Reed, but that the relationship had ended. When Reed saw him and his friend in the Hyundai she started to  follow them and then rammed their vehicle in the trunk area. They tried to get away from Reed who then hit their car again as it approached the East Main Street and Dixie Avenue intersection. The men’s car made the turn onto Dixie Avenue and Reed crashed into the other vehicles.

The damage to the Kia and the Hyundai as well as several statements from witnesses all supported the finding that Reed used her car to attack the two men. She was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and was booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $10,000 bond.
