Robert Woodrow Wilson, 83 of Follansbee, WV, formerly of Leesburg, FL, passed away at 4:40 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Peterson Healthcare and Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling, WV.
Robert was born on November 20, 1937 in Greenville, OH. He was the son of the late Russell Wilson and Alice (Brown) Engle.
Robert served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 during the Vietnam War. He retired from Consolidation Coal at the Ireland Mine. Many will remember Robert for the love of fishing, riding around in his golf cart to the nature trail and around the park and spending time at his Florida home.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Englehart, Shirley Boudreux, Linda Coulter, half siblings, Sue Hart and Rick Engle.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sandra (Perrin) Smith of Follansbee, WV, two children, Michael Wilson and his wife, Lee of Austin, TX and Mark Wilson of Las Vegas, NV, two step-children, Angela Smith of Monroeville, PA and James E. Smith of Follansbee, WV four step-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, a brother, Bill Wilson of Las Vegas, NV, half siblings, John (Shelia) Engle of Fountain City, IN, Mary (Kim) Paul of Winchester, IN and Phyllis Jean (Paul) Jessup of Greenville, OH a sister-in-law, Jean (Buck) Hunley and numerous nieces and nephews.
The James Funeral Home of Follansbee, WV is honored and privileged to serve the Wilson family with a private Veteran’s Cremation. Interment will be held privately at St John Cemetery Haven of Rest, Colliers, WV.
