Hair-pulling Leesburg man charged with battering his children’s mom

Jonathan Caruso

A Leesburg man was arrested after his children’s mother accused him of pulling her hair and preventing her from calling 911.

The victim told a Lake County sheriff’s deputy on Wednesday that 30-year-old Jonathan Kristop Caruso was at her house the previous night and wouldn’t leave when she told him to. She said he started calling her derogatory names, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she told Caruso to leave or else she was going to call law enforcement and he still wouldn’t go.  She said when she pulled out her phone to call 911, Caruso snatched it away from her and refused to give it back. The victim said Caruso suddenly and unexpectedly grabbed her hair tightly and pulled on it. She said he held onto it for about a minute before releasing it and giving back her phone, the report said.

The victim she waited until the next day to report the incident because she was scared. She said several strains of hair were missing because of Caruso’s actions, according to the report.

Caruso was arrested the next day at his residence, 32811 Forest Ave., and charged with simple domestic battery and deprivation of 911 communications. He was taken to the Lake County Jail, where he was released Friday on $6,500 bond. Caruso is due to appear in Lake County Court on April 12.
