Leesburg Christmas Parade moving forward despite other local cancellations

The Leesburg Christmas Parade will move forward despite similar event cancellations in the local area.

The event, which is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5 starting at 6 p.m., is happening in downtown Leesburg (510 W Main Street), the same locale of this year’s twice-cancelled Leesburg Bike Fest. In September, officials canceled the Leesburg Bikefest until next year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, Ocala officials canceled their annual Light Up event, which draws more than 25,000 visitors to the Downtown Ocala Square.

The parade is scheduled to travel down Main Street between 11th Street and Canal Street through Historic Downtown Leesburg. According to the press release from the Leesburg Partnership, there should be ample space for social distancing.

For those interested in participating in the parade, the Leesburg Partnership has included a list of rules and criteria for participating floats, as well as cost of entry. Read more about that on the 53rd Annual Leesburg Christmas Parade Application page. All applications for participation in the parade must be received by Monday, Nov. 30.

The parade will be broadcast live for those looking to view it digitally. Visit the Leesburg Partnership website for more information.
