A Leesburg man found himself behind bars earlier this week after a fender-bender with another motorist.
A Leesburg police officer on Tuesday night came upon the minor crash between a white Kia sedan and a silver Chevy SUV on S. 14th Street. Both drivers were advised to pull their vehicles into the parking lot of the nearby Southside Shopping Center. The two parties exchanged information due to minimal damage and the driver of the Kia was determined to be valid and left the scene, a Leesburg Police report states.
But the driver of the Chevy SUV provided the name Clarence L. Mobley with a date of birth of March 22, 1986 and “was clearly nervous.” After the information was determined to be invalid, the man admitted that his real name was James Kendell Dorsey and he was “concerned about the status of his license,” the report says.
A background check showed that Dorsey’s license was invalid due to numerous suspensions and revocations dating back to 2007. It also showed that he had been labeled as a habitual offender, the report says.
Dorsey, who lives at 904 Lucas St. No. 2, in Leesburg, was placed under arrest and transported to the Leesburg Police Department for processing. He was then taken to the Lake County Jail and charged with providing false identification to a law enforcement officer and driving with license suspended or revoked (habitual offender). He was released on $3,000 bond and is due in court Oct. 26 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charges, jail records show.
