Four injured in U.S. Hwy. 441 crash near Leesburg International Airport

Crews from Leesburg Fire Rescue scrambled to a single-vehicle crash with entrapment near Leesburg International Airport on Saturday afternoon.

When crews arrived in the 8300 block of U.S. Hwy 441 near Babette’s Furniture and Home around 4:30 p.m., they located a vehicle that had run off the roadway, gone up a hill and slammed into a tree. Three victims – an adult and two children – were outside the vehicle and were treated EMS units. The driver was still inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters, a Leesburg Fire Rescue report states.

The driver was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center as a trauma alert, while the passenger and two children were taken to Leesburg Regional Medical Center. It was unclear if one or both of the children were ejected from the vehicle during the crash, which occurred during stormy weather.

Officers from the Leesburg Police Department and Lake EMS personnel also responded to the incident, the report says.
