A deputy observed a maroon 2003 Mercedes Grand Marquis while on routine patrol near U.S. Highway 301 and County Road 203 around 5:07 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, 31-year-old Kenneth Charles Ewan, ran the stop sign at the intersection.

The deputy activated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for the traffic violation. He approached Ewan, the sole occupant of the vehicle, who provided his name and date of birth since he did not have his driver’s license. A search was conducted using this information that revealed Ewan’s license was not valid, the report said.

Another deputy responded to the scene to assist and discovered that Ewan also had active indefinite cancellations and suspensions, the report said.

Ewan was subsequently arrested on charge of driving while license suspended. He was also issued a written warning for running a stop sign. He was transported to Lake County Jail and released after posting $150 bond.
