A speeding Harley-Davidson rider died after losing control of the motorcycle in a crash in Lake County.
A 23-year-old Eustis man was riding the 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle at 4:38 p.m. Saturday eastbound on State Road 44 approaching Brantley Branch Road in the Seminole State Forest and lost control of the motorcycle, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. He had been riding in excess of the posted speed limit.
He swerved and traveled into the path of a westbound 2008 Toyota Tundra driven by a 61-year-old Maitland man. The truck collided with the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Maitland man, and his 59-year-old female passenger from Maitland, escaped injury.
