Edward Thomas Dewees, 82, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024. Edward was born on September 20, 1941, in Stratford, NJ, to his loving parents, Edward and Kathleen (Cronin) Dewees.

Edward was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Before his enlistment in the Army, Edward was employed as a lifeguard. His love for athleticism would continue throughout his life. During his youth, Edward danced on the American bandstand. This passion for dance didn’t stop as the years passed. Instead, it flourished with regular attendance at the Square in the Villages for dancing.

In 1987, Edward would move from New Jersey to start a new adventure in Florida. During his time in Florida, he would meet the love of his life, Mary Anne. The two would be married in 2000.

Those who love Edward describe him as an amazing coach, patient, kind, loving, and compassionate. The most important characteristic was the love that he had for his family. If Edward wasn’t spending time with his family, he enjoyed his time bowling.

Edward will be missed by many and remembered fondly for being a loving and dutiful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Edward is survived by his loving daughter Jennifer Lawrence (Robert); two precious grandchildren Miranda Sauer (David) and Courtney Williams (Brian); and four precious great-grandchildren Kelby Mary Anne, Bryar Thomas, Brian Darell, and Scarlett Ray; sisters Patricia Dewees and Maureen Cahn, who will greatly miss their adoring big brother; and brother Michael Dewees. Edward also leaves behind his partner in crime, his best friend, Tom (Helen) Innocente, a friendship that has lasted through the decades since grade school.

Edward is predeceased by his beloved parents, Edward and Kathleen Dewees, and the love of his life, Mary Anne.

A graveside ceremony will be held on 15, 3:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, located at 1901 C. R. 25A in Leesburg.
