Learn about the fascinating tales of old haunted Florida

Beacon College’s next Salon Speaker Series features author Elizabeth Randall at 7 p.m. on April 25 at the Venetian Center, located at 1 Dozier Circle, Leesburg.

Randall is a widely published freelance author whose work has been featured in places such as The Orlando Sentinel and Florida Magazine. She has also written five non-fiction books regarding stories of haunted Florida, a topic she will be discussing in the series.

Florida has some of the earliest settled areas in the United States and is home to fascinating history. These include tales from Native Americans, early European settlers and modern Floridians. In some places, people claim that the inhabitants of these historical moments remain. All over Florida, but especially in the north and southeast, there are fascinating and terrifying stories of lingering spirits. Who haunts America’s oldest regions?

Elizabeth Randall Speaker Series
Elizabeth Randall will be telling stories of haunted Florida in April.

Randall’s presentation tells of these and other stories of haunted Florida, but it goes a step further. Beneath the surface of Florida’s beauty, there is bloodshed, bodies, war, peace, courage, betrayal, heroism, stupidity and brilliance. Haunts tell Florida’s history.

Tickets are free, and registration is required at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/SalonSeries23/event/elizabethrandall/.

In its seventh year, the Beacon Salon Speaker Series at Beacon College is the school’s flagship community education outreach program. The Speaker Series brings in speakers, educators, authors and entertainers from Florida and around the country to educate, edify and entertain by exploring Florida history, waxing poetic, delving into popular culture and clenching the political third rail.

Channeling its ethos from the Parisian salons of the Enlightenment, the Speaker Series honors the college’s sacrosanct duty as an institution of higher learning to uplift the community in which it operates, spark engagement and sow seeds of conversation and discovery.
