A detective with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to an undisclosed residence on March 22 in reference to information he received regarding 19-year-old James Darell Pacheco having inappropriate communications with a minor, according to an affidavit of probable cause out of Lake County.

This information came from a juvenile victim in a separate case in which Pacheco had been arrested for lewd and lascivious battery on March 15. The victim in that case later informed the detective that her friend, another female juvenile, had also communicated with Pacheco where he made sexual comments toward her, the affidavit said.

Upon arrival, the detective met with the juvenile victim and her mother. The juvenile victim immediately stated that she knew why the detective was there. She heard that a 19-year-old male, Pacheco, was portraying himself as 17 years old and had been arrested for having sex with her underage friend recently, the affidavit said.

The juvenile victim stated that on March 7, her friend had asked her to conduct a “loyalty test” on Pacheco to determine if he was talking to other girls. So, she added Pacheco on Snapchat after his profile information was given to her by her friend and began communicating with him through Snapchat and Facetime. She identified herself as her true age, but Pacheco identified himself as 16 or 17 years old, the affidavit said.

During their Snapchat communications, Pacheco sent a photograph of his face, requested that the juvenile victim come to his residence through his bedroom window, sent her a caption asking her “can you handle 10 inches” and sent her another caption stating, “I am horny all the time.” The detective identified Pacheco from the photo he sent the juvenile victim, due to the detective’s contact with her during his initial investigation and arrest of Pacheco, the affidavit said.

The juvenile victim stated that she knew Pacheco was talking about his penis when referring to “10 inches.” After these comments, the juvenile victim blocked Pacheco from all forms of communication. She showed the detective several screenshots from Snapchat that supported her statements, the affidavit said.

Pacheco was ultimately arrested at his residence Wednesday morning by the LCSO on charge of transmission of material harmful to minors. Bond was set at $10,000.
