In loving memory of Mike Bitzel, a man whose life was a testament to the beauty of kindness, dedication, and passion. Mike passed away at his home in Tavares, FL on Sunday, February 18, 2024, surrounded by his family following a brave battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born on June 22, 1949 in Baltimore, he spent most of his life in Maryland and his lifetime was marked by profound achievements and unwavering love.

For 36 years, Mike dedicated his career to innovation and excellence at Black and Decker, leaving a lasting legacy through numerous patents and contributions to his field, before retiring in 2011. Yet, his true fulfillment came from the simple joys of life – his dedication to family and his love of the water, reflected in his passion for fishing and boating.

Above all, Mike cherished his role as a devoted husband to Linda, a loving father to Heather and her husband Greg, and a proud grandfather to Blair.

He is also lovingly remembered by brothers Dan, David, Paul and Chris and numerous nieces and nephews. His love knew no bounds, and his presence brought light to the lives of those he held dear. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In honoring Mike’s memory, the family kindly requests donations in lieu of flowers to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, a cause close to his heart.

Donations can be made online or mailed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation,
