The Lake County Sheriff’s Office received word from EMS requesting assistance to a medical call involving a physical disturbance resulting in injury at an undisclosed Leesburg residence around 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from LCSO.

A deputy met with the mother of the suspect, later identified as 56-year-old Teena Mar Johnson. She was sitting in a wheelchair inside the garage area with a pool of blood under her right foot. Her right lower leg was wrapped in an ace bandage soaked in blood. The victim stated that she suffered from lymphedema, or swelling, in her legs, the report said.

The victim also advised that she and Johnson were having a verbal argument over Johnson putting on her shoes so she could go to her doctor appointment. Johnson continued to argue and put on the left shoe. At some point, she became extremely upset, picked up the right shoe and struck the victim on the lower right leg, causing the injury that the victim described as intentional, the report said.

Johnson continued to yell and argue with the victim in the deputy’s presence. She explained that she became angry after telling her mother that she did not need her shoes on because she was in a wheelchair and would not be walking. She admitted to throwing the shoe out of anger and that it struck the victim’s right leg, causing it to bleed, the report said.

The investigation showed that Johnson currently lived at the house as the care provider for four years, the report said.

Johnson was subsequently arrested on charge of domestic battery (person 65 years of age or older). She was transported to Lake County Jail with bond set at $1,000.
