The Leesburg Commission has voted 4-0 to approve the annexation of a 15.4 acre parcel of land for 96 senior citizen apartments.
After voting Monday to annex the property, located east of Montclair Road and south of Colonial Street, the commission voted to change the zoning from Lake County R-6 (Urban Residential District) to Leesburg City PUD (Planned Unit Development).
The property is being developed by the Paces Foundation Inc. as a 55-plus apartment complex. The 15.4 parcel will be called the River Fox Commons, a low density development with all apartments being in two multi-story buildings. the proposed plan calls for walking paths and recreational areas on the wooded parcel. City staff recommended approval of the project which will include one, two and some three bedroom apartments.
The Leesburg Planning Commission had recommended approval of the project. No one appeared to object to the annexation at Monday’s commission meeting.
