Lawn care worker jailed on attempted homicide charge

A lawn care worker was being held without bond on an attempted homicide charge at the Lake County Jail.

Michael Robert Corkill, 39, of Fruitland Park, was booked at about 9:30 p.m. Friday following his arrest by Lake County sheriff’s deputies in Fruitland Park.

Deputies had responded Friday to a shooting reportedly sparked by an argument. One man had been shot in the arm and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Corkill is a native of Sanford and previously lived in Leesburg. In 2012, he spent two months in the Lake County Jail after he was arrested on a drunk driving charge and was also driving on a suspended license. He was arrested on a charge of battery in 2015. He was fined and placed on probation.
