A Leesburg woman was arrested for battery after hitting bicyclists with a broom stick as they rode past her near her home.
A deputy responded to a verbal dispute between 60-year-old Annette Marie Krupnicka and individuals riding bikes on 34936 First Avenue around 6:24 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Â
Krupnicka advised that the individuals threatened her, and she was in fear for her life. However, while on the way to the incident area, the deputy learned an additional call came in regarding Krupnicka using a stick to strike the individuals as they passed her on the road, the report said.Â
Upon arrival, the officer first spoke to a male victim who was riding down First Avenue with his children and their friends. Krupnicka was in the middle of the road and used a broomstick to strike him and a juvenile. He provided video footage showing this to be the case, the report said.Â
The deputy then spoke to Krupnicka who had been talking to another deputy on the matter. She provided a video from her Ring camera which again showed her standing in the street with a broomstick. It also showed her using the stick to strike individuals as they rode past her, the report said.Â
Krupnicka was subsequently arrested on charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon without intent to commit a felony. She was transported to the Lake County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.
