David L. Metzker

David L. Metzker, 81, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024, at Waterman Village in Mount Dora, Florida. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Dave was born on March 9, 1942, in Findlay, Ohio, to Harold and Caroline Metzker. He graduated from Findlay High School in 1960 and attended Ohio Northern University, where he earned a BS degree in engineering. He then pursued a MS degree in sanitary engineering from The University of Cincinnati, graduating in 1966. He worked as a city engineer for the city of Findlay, Ohio, and then as the public works director for the city of Orlando, Florida, overseeing many public projects.

Dave enjoyed golf, Ohio State football, various sports, and spending time with family and friends. Dave and Janet traveled extensively enjoying their time together. David was a longtime member of the Findlay Masonic Community, where he was a faithful and generous brother, who upheld the values and principles of Freemasonry.

Dave married Janet (Ede) Metzker on August 11, 1962, and they shared 61 years of love and companionship.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Caroline Metzker, and his sister, Carol Mae King.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, Richard Metzker (Karen), Michael Metzker (former wife Nicole), and Michelle Canapino (Jon); his grandchildren, Lauren Bodziony (Andrew), Emily Zahn (Alex), Rebecca Metzker, Jacob Metzker, Julia Metzker, and Allison Canapino; his greatgrandson, Jude Bodziony; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be on February 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel in Waterman Village, Mount Dora, Florida. A private family meal will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mount Dora Vitas Hospice in Dave’s memory.
